CONEXP-CON/AGG is where the
construction industry discovers the latest equipment, technologies, and trends.
Held every three years, this year’s event is co-located
with IFPE 2014, the leading
international exposition and technical conference for fluid power, power
transmission, and motion control. From March
4 to 8, 2014, the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada will be home
to both events.
At the
CONEXP-CON/AGG tradeshow, over 125,000 attendees will join 2400 exhibitors from
every major construction industry market segment, including earth
moving equipment, big-bore diesel engines, and hydraulics. The
IFPE tradeshow will feature another 400 exhibitors from industries such as automotive, off-road
vehicles, factory automation, machine tools, and machinery.

For tradeshow visitors and exhibitors alike, maintaining
assets such as construction equipment, diesel engines, and hydraulic cylinders is
critical. That’s why Brush Research Manufacturing (BRM) will be at
CONEXP-CON/AGG and IFPE this year. Visit BRM in Booth #82533 (IFPE – South Hall 3) and find surface
finishing solutions for fluid and power, hydraulics, earth moving equipment,
and more.
Fluid and Power
BRM
provides Flex-Hone® tools
to makers of pumps and valves. For
example, when a manufacturer of pneumatic-driven liquid pumps needed an alternative
to expensive, time-consuming manual deburring operations, BRM supplied the surface
finishing solution. After the metal sleeves
are machined and drilled, the pump manufacturer
uses Flex-Hone® technology in a standard drill chuck to remove small burrs with
speed, efficiency, and consistency.
Built
with a metal mounting stem and flexible nylon abrasive filaments, Flex-Hone®
tools provide a soft cutting action and are both versatile and easy-to-use.
Self-centering, self-aligning to the bore, and self-compensating for wear, BRM cylinder hones achieve
deburring and surface improvement at the same time, whether on a workbench or
in a machining center. From handheld power tools to robotic arms, the Flex-Hone®
works with existing equipment and does not require rigid, elaborate setups.
Hydraulics
Hydraulic cylinder manufacturers also trust flexible honing tools from BRM. By removing
surface irregularities and smoothing peaks and valleys, the Flex-Hone® imparts
a plateau finish
that reduces oil consumption and supports the anti-wear performance of
hydraulic oils. With its low-pressure, low-temperature abrading process, flexible
hones are also ideal for metal hydraulic motor bodies.
For hard materials that require specialized surface
finishing, BRM supplies Diamond
Flex-Hone® tools for hydraulic
cylinders in standard sizes ranging from 4-mm to 1-1/2". Made
with resin-bonded diamond crystals, BRM diamond hones are self-sharpening with
a nickel-coated abrasive for excellent crystal retention and heat dissipation. In addition to flexible honing tools, BRM supplies
abrasive nylon brushes for applications such as cleaning and deburring
machined threads.
Earthmoving Equipment
BRM
also supplies engine hones, deburring tools, and specialty diesel
tools for maintaining earth moving equipment such as bulldozers,
excavators, dump trucks, loaders, and graders. For both new and used machinery,
engine maintenance is critical. That’s why companies like Caterpillar use large-diameter Flex-Hone®
tools for deglazing, refinishing, and crosshatching cylinder liner walls
during diesel engine overhauls.
Organizations
that service earth movers also like Flex-Hone® tools, especially for relieving
hard-to-reach port areas. In addition to clearing the ports on two-cycle engine
liners, Flex-Hone® tools are used to improve the surface finish on the walls of
hydraulic cylinders. Industrial brushes for tasks ranging from injector
cleaning to surface finish improvement round-out BRM's product line.
