AeroDef is where the aerospace and
defense industry finds innovative manufacturing technologies and builds strong
business relationships. From February 25 to 27, 2014, commercial aviation and
defense OEMs will gather at the Long Beach, California Convention Center for a
mission-critical summit and conference sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers (SME). If manufacturing innovation and advanced technologies are
on your agenda, don’t miss this important event.
From keynote
speakers and executive insights to tradeshow booths and technical sessions,
AeroDef informs and connects while providing visitors with a competitive edge.
Brush Research Manufacturing (BRM), a trusted supplier to both the aerospace and defense
industries, will share surface finishing solutions in Booth
#554 and explain how BRM brushing technologies help to ensure that programs
are delivered on-time and on-budget. Use Promo Code 10003623 to register for
the exhibits for free.
Diamond Flex-Hone® and Flex-Hone® for
Chamfer Blending Technology
BRM’s Diamond Flex-Hone® tools
are ideal for deburring, edge blending, and surface finishing hard materials
such as aerospace alloys, carbides, and ceramics. To aid in heat dissipation
and improve bond retention, these flexible honing tools feature coated diamond
abrasives that are also self-sharpening.
In addition to diamond hones, defense and aerospace customers can choose
Flex-Hone® tools for
chamfer blending in a variety of abrasive types and grit sizes.
BRM diamond
tools and flexible hones for chamfer blending are used for inner diameter (ID)
surface finishing, and can help manufacturers to automate labor-intensive
operations. Flex-hone® defense and aerospace applications include through-hole
edge rounding in aircraft engines, chamfer blending on rotating engine parts,
and surface improvement of helicopter drive shafts. Flexible hones are also
used to finish and polish hydraulic swivel components and landing gear
equipment.
Flex-Hone®
technology is so reliable that it’s trusted by defense contractors and the
military for use with fire weapons and aircraft missile systems. When stress
corrosion cracks from improperly machined holes grounded some of the U.S.
Navy’s jet fighters, the Naval Aviation Depot at North Island, California used
flexible hones from BRM to achieve high-quality
holes in aircraft structures. Sikorsky
Helicopter has also used Flex-hone® tools to solve surface finishing
challenges.
NamPower Technology and Industrial
Brushes
NamPower nylon abrasive brushes remove burrs, blend
edges, and improve outer diameter (OD)
surface condition. Designed for use with semi-automatic and
fully-automatic equipment,
these high-performance power brushes work like flexible
files and conform closely to part contours. As
this video explains, NamPower technology uses a unique combination of ceramic and
silicon carbide abrasive to produce maximum burr removal rates while achieving
an ideal surface finish at the same time.
Brush Research Manufacturing provides a wide
selection of industrial
brush tools for the consistent surface finishing of metallic materials, super
alloys, advanced composites, and ceramics. Specific applications include
in-line machining and edge radiusing of aerospace parts; precision deburring of
aircraft components after machining or grinding, and the blending of surface
imperfections and inconsistences. BRM also supplies brush tools for parts
cleaning.
