PRI
2013 is where industry leaders in racing technology will reach the checkered
flag at the end of the automotive tradeshow season. From December 12 to 14, the
Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis
is where racing industry suppliers from 1100 companies will meet 40,000 buyers
from over 70 countries. For retail stores, warehouse distribution centers,
professional engine builders, and race car production companies, PRI 2013 is the place to
evaluate motorsports products and strengthen supply chains.
Sponsored
by the Performance Racing Industry
(PRI), this three-day event is also where buyers can learn about everything
from engine parts and suspension components to metal alloys and machinery. For race
professionals who want superior surface finishing solutions, the Brush Research
Manufacturing (BRM) booth is the place to be. Visit Booth 5511 in Machinery Row
for cylinder honing
tools, power brushes, and automotive brushes.
Cylinder Honing Tools
BRM Flex-Hone® tools
are the standard against which all other surface finishing solutions are
compared. Built with a stiff metal stem and flexible nylon abrasive filaments,
these resilient honing tools are self-centering, self-aligning, and
self-compensating for wear. The plateau
finish that BRM cylinder hones impart promotes lubrication, reduces engine
wear, and aids in piston ring seating and sealing. Versatile and easy-to-use,
Flex-Hone® tools can be mounted in machine centers as well as handheld electric
drills.
As
this this
MotorzTV episode explains, BRM ball hones are ideal for engine block honing
and cylinder wall deglazing. In addition to cylinders and liners, automotive
applications include camshafts and valves; clutches and brakes; and
crankshafts, conrods, and piston pins. Flex-Hone® tools are also used for
cross-hole deburring and removing cut, torn, or folded metal (burrs) from
keyways, slots, and grooves. For superior deburring and surface improvement, BRM cylinder hones
are at the top of the leaderboard.
Power Brushes
As
an American-owned supplier of a full line of automotive brushes, BRM also offers
crimped wire wheels, knotted wire wheels, and knotted wire cups. These power brushes
are available for heavy-duty or light-duty applications, and are made of
high-quality materials such as brass, carbon steel, stainless steel,
abrasive-impregnated nylon, and Tampico.
Applications for BRM wheel brushes
include cleaning, polishing, deburring, edge blending, and surface conditioning.
As
visitors to PRI 2013 will learn, BRM brushing technology is the surface
finishing solution of choice for automotive applications.
Crimped wire wheels are used for paint removal, tube end deburring, thread
cleaning, mill scale removal, removing excess molded rubber (flashing), and for
preparing exterior surfaces for decorative finishes. Knotted wire wheels
and knotted wire cup
brushes are also used for automotive surface preparation, as well as for weld
finishing and slag removal.
Automotive Brushes
In
addition to Flex-Hone® tools and power brushes, BRM offers NamPower nylon
abrasive brushes for outer diameter (OD) surface finishing. The NamPower
family of products includes abrasive disc brushes and composite hub wheel
brushes for high-performance automotive applications. Designed for use with
manual and automated finishing machinery, NamPower brush tools are setting a
new standard for OD deburring, parts cleaning, edge radiusing, and surface
finishing.
NamPower nylon abrasive
disc brushes come in two styles: dot and turbine. Dot-style brushes are used
for light deburring and edge blending. Turbine-style brush tools are designed
for medium-to-heavy burr removal. NamPower composite hub wheel brushes feature
a higher filament density and balanced construction for longer life. A safe,
dependable alternative to wire wheels and non-woven abrasive brushes, NamPower composite hub
wheel brushes last longer with less filament breakage.
