NamPower nylon abrasive brushes from
Brush Research Manufacturing (BRM) are a family of high-performance surface
finishing and deburring tools for outer diameter (OD) applications. Ideal for
use with automated equipment, NamPower technology
includes abrasive disc brushes for maximum burr removal rates and optimum
surface improvement. NamPower abrasive disc brushes come in a range of sizes,
and are now available in smaller diameters with a specialized tool holder for
flow-through cooling.
Sizes
and Styles
BRM’s new NamPower mini disc brushes provide
greater versatility in harder-to-reach areas, smaller applications, and planetary
head mountings. These nylon
abrasive brushing tools are supplied in 50-mm, 60-mm, and 80-mm diameters
in both dot and turbine styles. Dot style NamPower abrasive disc brushes are
recommended for light deburring and edge blending. Turbine style NamPower disc
brushes are designed for medium-duty and heavy-duty burr removal.
Both styles of small-diameter NamPower
abrasive disc brushes support short cycle times and long brush tool life. Dot
style disc brushes provide greater flexibility and support entry into small holes
and spaces with ease. Turbine style disc brushes feature a high-density fill
for fast cutting. Larger diameter versions of NamPower nylon abrasive disc
brushes are available in 100-mm, 125-mm, and 150-mm diameters. All NamPower
disc brushes are ideal for automated deburring, edge radiusing, and surface
conditioning.
Abrasive
Types and Grit Sizes
NamPower miniature nylon abrasive disc
brushes come with a unique combination of white ceramic and silicon carbide
abrasive for producing maximum burr removal rates and an optimum surface finish
at the same time. Available grit sizes for these small-diameter brush tools are
80, 120, 180, and 320. Custom NamPower mini disc brushes are also available, and
feature a combination of blue ceramic and silicon carbide, or blue ceramic
only.
The abrasive
nylon filaments on NamPower miniature disc brushes conform closely to part
contours, wiping and filing across part edges and surfaces. Their linear
construction also means that sharp, new abrasive grains constantly come into
contact with the work surface, providing consistent deburring action throughout
the length of the bristles. Compared to standard ceramic abrasive, the
combination of white ceramic and silicon carbide provides excellent value and
increased tool life.
Base
and Tool Holder
All NamPower abrasive disc
brushes are manufactured with a molded thermoplastic base that provides
greater rigidity and stability with less vibration. The result is a better
balanced brush tool with improved performance and longer tool life. BRM also
supplies flow-through tool holders that allow coolant to flow from the brush
center instead of supplying lubricant from only the outside. This lets the brush
tool cut at greater depths and reduces heat generation dramatically.
BRM’s new small-diameter NamPower
abrasive disc brushes feature a flow-through tool
holder with a 16-mm shank. Available for both dot style and turbine style
mini disc brushes, these special tool holders are heat-treated, precision
ground, and PVD coated for improved corrosion resistance. As with the tool
holders for larger diameter NamPower disc brushes, coolant flows through from
the brush center, resulting in better lubricant dispersion.
