Engine Hone Used For Big-Block Budget Engine Build

For decades, people have been learning of the incredible benefits of the Flex-Hone tool. Brush Research has been involved with the problem of finishing cylinder walls and deburring applications from hundreds of industries and applications since 1958. The Flex-Hone was originally invented to deglaze cylinder walls in automotive engines. Although the applications for this tool have spread across many industries, the tool is still commonly considered an engine hone.

We recently came across a nice technical article on Super Chevy Magazine's website entitled 454 Big-Block Budget Engine Build - Making Cents. The story tells how you can accomplish an inexpensive build that simultaneously maximized power and minimized expenditure all while meeting there "no less than 700 hp"goal.

One of the initial steps was to analyze the engines existing condition. They write "Since our motor appeared to have been run hot in the not-to-distant past, decided it was a wise investment to replace the rings. The bores and attending ring seal were given a fresh start with a flexible ball hone." Very wise investment indeed.

Brush Research's Flex-Hones, commonly known as engine hones or cylinder honing tools, come in sizes from 4mm - 36" standard in 9 different abrasive types and 11 different grit selections.
