As you clearly know by now if you've been following BRM's blog, the Flex-Hone is your best way of surface finishing and deburring almost anything...but what happens if you need to go 30" deep and the tool is only 8" long?
You have a couple options.
The first choice is to request a Custom Flex-Hone that we simply make a longer stem for. It looks just like a regular Flex-Hone, but with up to a 15" long twisted shaft instead of the regular 8". The downside to doing this is that it requires a longer lead time and will be more expensive than buying a standard product off the shelf.
Your other choice is to simply buy a standard Flex-Hone along with some Flex-Hone Accessories such as a pipe nipple adaptor and an extension. This is not a high tech solution, but for most applications, these are certainly adequate and comes with a couple of benefits. The pipe nipple adaptor is a standard size NPT that is crimped on to the end of the stem here at the factory. Note: If you are on our website, make sure to click on Product Specification under the Pipe Nipple Adaptor. Different size nipples will fit different Flex-Hone size ranges. If you also order the extension (available in 18" or 36" lengths) you simply screw the included coupling onto the adaptor.
The extensions, being removable, are also reusable. You only need to buy one for each hone (of course the pipe nipple adaptors need to be ordered for each hone). This also means that since you're buying standard product you don’t need to wait for us to quote and build you a custom hone, saving you time and money.
